The Women Action Group has been operational since 2004 and is community based, serving the whole of the Overstrand Sub-districts. We are a self-funding non-profit organization, totally reliant on the generosity of our donors and supporters, and fundraising initiatives to sustain our services, free of charge, to patients and their families.

Since the organization started in 2004, it grew from a supporting organization for people living in poverty, to a structured organization that supports infected / affected HIV/ AIDS clients and others with related illnesses. The organization was funded by only one funder (NACOSA) but has subsequently been gained others and is now funded by several funders (Social Development, Health, Lotto, Private Funders, Community Chest and Food Forward SA.).
The organization initially had only one office but since 2008 has expanded to seven more offices.
